Flashback

Jendra had never seen such a lovely thing in all of her life. She quickly kicked the doll into some nearby bushes hoping to take the doll for herself after the Rickshaw passed. She placed her eyes squarely on the road before her and continued on.

Just then, with all the grace of an acrobat, Amelia jumped from the Rickshaw, and lighted on the ground nearby.

“My doll! Did you see my doll?” she asked.

Jendra clumsily looked around, and feigned ignorance. “I haven’t seen a doll. Perhaps it fell out earlier?”

“No, I was just playing with it,” said Amelia the skewer of meat still in her hand.

Jendra looked at the meat greedily, as her stomach again rumbled with hunger. “Hey friend, I could help you look. Would you mind giving me a bite to eat in exchange?”

Amelia looked at her with a kindness that made Jendra suddenly self conscious. “Sure, you can have this, if you help me find it.”

Jendra’s eyes widened and she readily accepted the offer. She carefully lowered the buckets, and wolfed down the meat, then began halfheartedly looking around.

Amelia was a bright girl and immediately went for the bushes nearby, and found the doll.

“My doll! I wonder how you got so far into the bushes? It’s OK, your safe now.” she said to the doll, then turned to Jendra, and smiled. “Thanks for your help!”

Round 1, FIGHT!

Jendra stepped to the side dodging the thrown blade, With a large stride she moved forward, connecting a punch to the side of Amelia’s head.

Amelia shifted her weight softening the blow. She braced her fall with her hands then seamlessly springing back to her feet, brought her second fan in an arcing uppercut, Just missing jendra who leaned back, the blades just whizzing past her nose.

Amelia fell back a few steps, a trail of blood leading from her mouth down her chin.

Jendra hefted her hammer, ready to swing.

Their first encounter

The day was hot, and the air was thick with humidity, the kind that settled deeply in the lungs as one breathed.

Jendra a young preteen girl walked along a dusty road. She was weak with hunger, and carried two large buckets of water; slogging them along, doing her best not to drop any on the ground.

The sound of footsteps came pounding up the road from behind her, and within moments a rickshaw, drawn by a large yellow skinned brute with long black hair, passed Jendra; dust blew into the air in its wake.

Squinting her eyes against the dirty cloud, she looked up and spied a beautiful young girl in the back of the rickshaw, eating strips of roasted meats, skewered on a long stick.

Jendra licked her dry dusty lips, and she heard the rumble of hunger in her belly.

Just then the rickshaw hit a large bump and a small doll fell at Jendra’s feet.

Agenda: Jendra wants to get Amelia to give her some of the meat.

At this point you will state your Agenda.

You will then choose your attack card, after which you will look at my selection below. Once you have looked at my selection you will decide if you want to play a stance card (because you have the Upper Hand.)

d6

Then comment with your agenda, and either the stance card you are playing, or the fact that you are not going to play a stance card and send me an email letting me know it is done.

The Showdown begins

The Showdown takes place in Amelia’s estate. A large two story building, elaborately Furnished , a lot of open space but plenty of tight corridors as well. outside in the courtyard there is a fountain with over a dozen enchanted floating rocks and boulders orbiting about a water spout creating a floating waterfall. Half a dozen tall, thin trees line the courtyard on either side of the centerpiece.

Amelia is standing on the second floor balcony overlooking the main doors. She leans on the banister looking down at jendra as she approaches through the courtyard.

“Jendra, you know this isn’t going to end well”

Amelia Throws one of her closed bladed fans at Jendra then jumps of the balcony to attack with the other.

Beginning the duel
Dice selection

To begin the duel we will be determining who will get to set the scene of the final confrontation ( Upper Hand ), and who will get to set the scene for the first time the two characters met ( Flash of Insight ).

The person who selects the larger dice will get the Upper Hand and will set the scene of the final confrontation.

The dice used to determine the beginning of the duel will be discarded after this beginning phase.

Select the dice you are committing, then highlight the text in the space below to look at my selection.

In the space below is my dice selection (be sure that you have already decided what die your are committing before highlighting):

d4 ║← highlight to see my selection

Whoever has selected the larger dice will get the Upper Hand and now sets the scene of the final duel. (If we are tied, we have to then select another die, and do this again.)

The final confrontation is set in the last place that these two characters will ever meet. Neither of them may leave this place during the game, because this is where one of them will die.

If you are setting the scene of the duel, describe the location where the duel is taking place, the environmental conditions at this location, and the position of the characters within the location.

The characters could just be showing up and starting off, or already in the middle of action. In any case, they haven’t been hurt yet… that’s what the rest of the game is for!

When setting the scene, you may talk about how your or my character is at a disadvantage, as long as it’s not in a way that goes against your or my Qualities.

Feel free to state obvious disadvantages, like one character being totally exposed, while the other has the high ground or is concealed. It could be your character that is exposed or at a disadvantage if you like.

Many great stories start from these positions.

If you have a map, or want to create one, of the final battleground then you can send it to me via email and I will upload it to the maps section.

Welcome to your campaign!
A blog for your campaign

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.

That’s it! The rest is up to your and your players.
